Valette

Terms of Use

Last updated 2 September 2026
The short version. Valette is a planning aid, not an official degree audit. It can be wrong. Check anything that matters with your advisor. The tool and its data are ours; please do not copy them.

1. Accepting these terms

By using Valette you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. What Valette is, and is not

Valette is an unofficial planning tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Mississippi State University, and nothing it shows is an official degree audit, an official schedule, or academic advice.

Degree requirements, prerequisites, class times and seat counts are extracted from MSU's published catalog and class schedule. They may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Requirements change, courses are added and withdrawn, and seats move minute to minute.

3. Confirm before you act

Do not register for a course, drop a course, change a major, or plan a graduation date on the strength of Valette alone. Confirm with your academic advisor, with the official catalog, and with Banner or DegreeWorks. You are responsible for your own registration decisions and for meeting your degree requirements.

4. Your data

Your transcript is parsed in your browser and stored only on your device. See the Privacy Policy. Keep your own copies: clearing your browser data removes your work, and we cannot restore it because we never had it.

5. Intellectual property

Valette, its name, its mark, its interface, its code, and the structured degree data behind it are the property of Valette Labs and are protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Publishing this site is not a licence to use it: you may not copy, scrape, republish, or build a derivative product from the site, its code, or its data without written permission.

Course catalog data vendored under the MIT License from msstate-mcp; that notice travels with the data. PDF parsing by pdf.js, © Mozilla Foundation, Apache License 2.0.

6. Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to scrape the site or its data endpoints in bulk, interfere with its operation, probe it for vulnerabilities, or use it to build a competing dataset. Automated access may be rate-limited or blocked.

7. No warranty

Valette is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, available, or fit for any particular purpose.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Valette Labs is not liable for any loss arising from your use of Valette, including a delayed graduation, a missed requirement, a lost registration slot, or any academic or financial consequence. Your remedy is to stop using it.

9. Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use Valette after a change means you accept it.
